A device (1) for absorbing electrical noise transmitted along a cord or cable (15) comprises a magnetic body divided into two or three members (3, 5) having abutment surfaces (11, 13), a first joint (7) on which the members (3, 5) can be swung, and a second joint (9) having a resilient member (40). One end of the second joint (9) is attached to one member (3), and the other end of the second joint (9) can be attached to or detached from the other member (5). Since the second joint (9) can be unfastened, the device (1) can be easily attached around the cord or cable (15) at a desired position without having to disconnect it. When the other end of the second joint (9) is pulled and attached to the magnetic body using the contraction force of the resilient member (40), the abutment surfaces (11, 13) of the magnetic body are held closely together making a magnetic circuit about the cord or cable (15).
