PURPOSE:To prevent the discharge port of a recording head from damaging and ink from contaminating by providing a cap member covering an ink discharge face detachably by using a capping unit in a manner that it is mounted on a recording head. CONSTITUTION:A sealing member 8 (e.g., elastic material such as butyl rubber) covering in direct contact with the ink discharge face 1A of a recording head 1 is provided at a cap member 9 of a capping unit 7 for covering the ink discharge face 1A. The member 9 is detached from a cap supporting member 10 at the time of replacement or attachment/detachment of the member 9 in a manner that the member 9 remains mounted on the head 1. Further, the ink discharge face 1A is integrally formed with a sweeping plate, and can be stored in the member 9. |
