PURPOSE:To cool a light shutting plate without use of any special liquid supply mechanism and prevent attachment to a vital structure by allowing the vapor included in an assist gas to run against the light shutting plate to be turned into dew, evaporating it by laser, and taking thereby the gasification heat. CONSTITUTION:A passage 10 for assist gas is formed between a sheath 9 and a protection tube 8. A probe head 11 and a light shutting plate 12 consolidated therewith block the laser beam after irradiation of a troubled part 7 so as not to irradiate on other area with normal structure. The air sent from a compressor 13 includes vapor from a physiological saline solution 15 in a vessel 14 for generation of vapor and passes the abovementioned assist gas passage 10 arranged along the skin of the optical fiber within the probe to jet out from its tip and blow against the light shutting plate 12. At this time, the vapor forms dew, which will however be evaporated by the laser beam emitted from the optical fiber, and thereby the gasification heat is taken to cause cooling of the light shutting plate. At the same time, the vital structure around the trouble part 7 is given appropriate moisture, which should keep lubrication between the vital structure and the plate 12. |
