PURPOSE:To improve development progressability, sensitivity, fogging ratio, and graininess by allowing a sensitizing pigment to exist at >=600mg per 1mol silver halide at the time of chemical sensitization of the emulsion. CONSTITUTION:The sensitizing pigment is made to exist at >=600mg per 1mol silver halide at the time of chemical sensitization during the stage for preparing the silver halide emulsion for photographing in which >=70% of the total projection area of the entire silver halide particle is planar particles of >=2 aspect ratio and the average aspect ratio is in 5-8. The aspect ratio refers to the ratio between the particle diameter and the particle thickness. The particle diameter is expressed by the diameter of the circle having the same area as the projection area of the silver halide particles. The silver halide emulsion for photography which exhibits the excellent development progressability, sensitivity/fogging ratio and graininess among the planar particle emulsions of the same projection area and diameter and the same thickness and has the high covering power is obtd. in this way. |
