PURPOSE:To improve the workability of removing the base metal in a tundish by erecting a jig which bestrides a beam member and is welded at its leg parts to the surface of the base metal on the base metal in the tundish. CONSTITUTION:The beam member 4 is spanned between opposite top ends 1b of the tundish 1. The jig 5 which bestrides the beam member 4 is erected on the base metal 3 in the tundish 1. The jig 5 is integrated with the base metal 3 by welding the top ends of the leg parts 5b to the surface of the base metal 3, by which the jig is erected on the base metal 3. A jack 6 is disposed between the beam member 4 and the bridge 5a of the jig 5. The jack 6 presses the beam member 4 to the top edge 1b of the tundish 1 when the jack is stroked upward. Then, the jack lifts the base metal 3 together with the jig 5 while pressing the tundish 1 downward. The operation of removing the base metal 3 in the tundish is safely executed in this way. |
