PURPOSE: To enable the sure long prevention of pregnancy on coitus by inserting the subject composition having tacky adhesivity consisting of a mixture of a spermicide in an amount effective for contraception, a polymeric rubber, a dispersant and a water miscible polymeric suppository base material, near cervical ducts in the vagina of a warm-blooded mammal. CONSTITUTION: The composition is obtained by compounding (A) a spermicide in an amount effective for contraception, (B) a polymeric rubber in an amount sufficient for imparting the component A with tacky adhesivity, (C) a dispersant in an amount sufficient for imparting the suppository composition with homogeneous melting property and (D) a water miscible polymeric suppository base material, preferably a water miscible polyethylene glycol polymer preferably at ratios A=10-30wt%, B=15-25wt.%, C=1-4.0wt.% and D=41-74wt.% each based on the total weight of the suppository. When the suppository composition is inserted into the vagina, the suppository melts and the resultant adhesive solution of the spermicide adheres to the body in the vagina and at the openings of cervical ducts to form a preventive barrier of the spermicide to hold contraceptive activity for such a long time as 5-12hr after the insertion into the vagina.
