PURPOSE: To prevent a third member from falling off a mounted fastener by temporarily holding the third member to the mounting device with a temporary retaining means at the time of completion of mounting the fastener. CONSTITUTION: A fastener which is being mounted or gripped by a tool is in a shape of a blind rivet 10 and comprises three members. A first member is a shaft stem 11, a second member is a cylindrical shell 12, and a third member is a washer 13 for forming an annular lock. The tool holds the washer 13 temporarily restrain the lock forming washer 13 at an anvil at a nosepiece after rupture of the shaft stem 11 and elastically holds the washer 13. The elastic holding is arranged so as to be effective when a shaft stem retaining means 26 is retreated, and further is arranged so as to remain holding the washer 13 until the retaining means 26 comes back to a forwarding position. After the rivet 10 is mounted, a tool operator removes tool from the work and releases a washer 10 at a safe place. |
