The machine is provided with a shoe 4 which can be displaced vertically on guides 2 and is connected by means of transverse bars 15 to a support 14 counterpoised to said shoe, this assembly being superposed on the stack 20 of newspapers and the gear motor 9-10 being fixed to the shoe 4, said gear motor being provided for actuating a spindle 13 which moves transversely to a carriage 16 provided with needles 19 for lateral, individual entrainment of the newspapers 20 towards the exit zone, where flaps 33 hold back all the newspapers during this manoeuvre except that one which is in an exit position. This carriage performs an advance half-cycle, in order to expel the newspaper, and a return half-cycle, after the insertion of a coin into the machine and with the collaboration of a travel stop 47 for reversing the movement. <IMAGE>
