An electrolyte soln. for ion-measuring electrodes is gelatinized with a gelling agent and contains an inhibitor for gel evaporation. The soln. is an internal soln., a buffer, pH-adjusting or calibrating standard soln. The gelling agent is gelatin, agaragar, glue or alginic acid. The inhibitor is a cpd. of m.pt. lower than 0≦̸C, b.pt. above 100≦̸C and low vapour pressure at ambient temp., e.g. glycerol, ethylen glycol or propylene glycol. The gelled electrolyte soln. can be used in a compact sheet-type electrode.
