PURPOSE:To suppress side reactions due to foreign protein, fat and the like in a specimen, to suppress the generation of prozone in the high concentration region of a material under test and to make it possible to measure even the low concentration region of the materials under test accurately by adding a specified compound. CONSTITUTION:A compound shown by a reagent formula I incorporates an antibody or an antigen which reacts specifically with an antigen or an antibody to be measured. A buffer incorporating said compound and a specimen are mixed at the rate of specified quantities. Thereafter, reaction is performed at a constant temperature. In the formula I: R<1> and R<2> are hydrocarbon groups having the hydrogen number or carbon number of 1-5; AO is an oxyalkylene group having the carbon number of 3-4; and (m) and (n) represent the numbers of oxyethylene and the oxyalkylene groups, respectively. The oxyethylene groups and the oxyalkylene groups in { } undergo random copolymerization. The molecular weight is 1,000-20,000. The ratio between (m) and (n) is within the range of 60/40-90/10. Then, e.g. in the case of turbidimetry, the value is read with a nephelometer. In order to determine the concentration of the result of the specimen, the value is compared with the value of a contrast specimen.
