摘要 PURPOSE: To provide an optical communication network of a high speed operation, which eliminates an electromagnetic interference and which is easily reconstructed by using a spatial optical modulator provided with multiple reflective image elements having first and second states. CONSTITUTION: A cross bar switch 200 is provided with the reflective spatial optical modulator DMD 230 which is provided with the multiple reflective image elements, which returns reflected light to an optical fiber end part and can form again an image. Four transmitters 251-254, four receivers 261-264, a silicon chip 245 and DMD 230 are connected by sixteen optical fibers 271-286 branched into two. Light transmitted from the transmitters 251-254 is transmitted to DMD 230 from the silicon chip 245. When torsion beams are deformed, light is reflected, it returns to the optical fibers 271-286 and it is transmitted to the prescribed receivers 261-264. When they are not deformed, light simply becomes scattered light and it does not return.
