摘要 PURPOSE: To enable a stent to be inserted into an artery after balloon angioplasty in order to prevent restenosis, by forming the stent from a shape memory alloy tape having a diameter smaller than the diameter of a blood vessel in which it is to be embedded, and by impregnating a tin surface coating with a specific quantity of indium. CONSTITUTION: This stent 6 to be inserted into a blood vessel after a balloon angioplasty in order to prevent restenosis comprises a helical coil having a diameter slightly smaller than that of the blood vessel into which it is to be inserted, and the coil is formed of a corrosion-resistant shape memory alloy having a transition temperature ranging from about 39 to 60 deg.C. The surface of the shape memory alloy stent is applied with tin coating. The tin coating can be performed desirably by electroplating with an extremely thin coating of indium, and then the indium is diffused into the tin coating. The indium content of the tin coating is of about 1-10weight%. While a catheter 1 is passed through a guide catheter 3 and pushed up to a desired position, the catheter 1 is introduced by a guide wire 11. The guide catheter 3 is left within a the blood vessel so as to be used for stent implantation 8.
