PURPOSE:To maintain the spacing between upper and lower substrates constant over the entire surface of a display part and to obtain an uniform display over a large screen by providing grooves corresponding to display dot patterns to the substrate surface on the side formed with color sepn. filter layers and forming the color sepn. filter layers in these grooves. CONSTITUTION:The grooves 10 corresponding to the display dot patterns are provided on the surface of the substrate 1 on the side formed with the color sepn. filter layers 2 and the color sepn. filter layers 2 are formed in these grooves 10. The filter layers are so formed that the surface of the glass substrate 1 is smoothed after formation of the color patterns 2 at this time. Electrode patterns 4 as transparent conductive films can, therefore, be formed in a uniform state having no ruggedness over the entire surface after a protective film 3 is applied on the surface of the glass substrate 1. The spacing between the electrode patterns 4 formed on the lower glass substrate 1 and the electrode patterns 7 formed on the upper glass substrate 6 is maintained constant over the entire surface of the display part in this way and the display uniform over the large screen is obtd. |
