A discoidal element 7, 8 for a helical screw or spindle arrangement which comprises, on each side, identical surface (shallow) depressions 20, each depression having an open end 21 next to the periphery and a closed end 22 next to a central core 23. The depressions 20 on one side of the discoidal element are staggered with respect to those of the other side. The discoidal element may also contain radial ribs 24, 25, 26, 27 which constitute the lateral walls of the surface depressions. The discoidal elements may be used suitably in apparatuses for husking grain. <IMAGE>
