Scrubber for scrubbing out paint particles from the exhaust air of a paint spray booth, which scrubber has a scrubber shell having a top inlet and a bottom outlet. In the region of the inlet, the flow cross-sectional area is delimited by scrubbing liquid guide walls, and the outlet is formed by a nozzle, between which and the guide walls is arranged a gable-roof-shaped noise shield which is wider than the minimum distance between the guide walls and is also wider than the nozzle. Flow dead spaces on the underside of the noise shield and between the guide walls and the scrubber side walls receive noise-insulating material. In this manner, transmission of the noise generated by the nozzle upwards through the inlet is substantially prevented.
