PURPOSE:To form surely the sectional shape in the strand part of an expanded metal to a circular or elliptical shape by forming the groove of a grooved roll into a specific sectional shape. CONSTITUTION:An expanded metal is fed into the space between forming rolls in such a way that the strand part 3b and bond part of the expanded metal are gnawed respectively into grooves 10d, 10c. Even if the strand part 3b deviates slightly from the central part of the groove 10d, the part 3b is moved automatically to the central part of the groove 10d by the effect of the tapered part 10a when the pressure generated by the forming rolls is exerted on the part 3b. When the strand part 3b comes on the outside peripheral surface of the roll, the collapsion of the part 3b is obviated as the energizing force of a spring is set at prescribed intensity. Since the strand part 3b is in an unstable position, said part returns automatically into the groove 10d. |
