The computer based drawing or displaying appts. drives a cubic view of an object in response to input data relating to the object. The appts. includes memory containing stored pattern data representative of a multiplicity of projections in the standard planes of the cubic view of a predetermined pattern of standard size. The memory is arranged to select the pattern projections in response to input data and to magnify or reduce and translate the selected pattern projections in response to further input data so as to build up the cubic view in terms of pattern projections.
