PURPOSE:To improve operability by detecting whether a troubled cover member is opened or closed. CONSTITUTION:A microcomputer 35 discriminates the presence or absence of arising trouble according to signals from a paper sensor 30, a toner sensor 20, an overflow sensor 36 and jam sensors 31, 32 and 34, and displays the result on a display 40. Viewing the display, a user operates to eliminate the trouble. If an original cover opening sensor 14 outputs while the computer 35 stops a copying action to be ready for next operation, the computer 35 sets a flag. After the trouble is eliminated, a trouble message on the display 40 is turned off. When the flag is set, the computer 35 resets the flag to resume by turning on a print key 37, instead of automatically resuming the copying action. As a result, operability is improved. |
