PURPOSE:To provide the subject filler capable of improving the shrinkage anisotropy of a plastic molded product and the mechanical strength of a welded portion thereof by preparing thin glass pieces and forming irregular holes and/or projections and depressions on the surfaces thereof into three-dimensional shapes. CONSTITUTION:For the production of the filler, melted glass 2 in a melting oven 1 is discharged 4 and simultaneously steam is jetted 6 to spray 5 the melted glass 2 in a fog state. The melted glass 2 is dropped on melted lead 10 having fine waves formed on the surface thereof with a shaking device 11 in a heating, heat-retaining bath 9. At this time, the melted glass 2 is struck on the surface of the melted lead 10 to transcribe the fine wave shapes of the surface of the melted lead 10 to the dropped melted glass pieces and simultaneously to flatten the melted glass pieces. Since a difference between the melting points of the lead and the glass is 900-1000 deg.C, the melted glass 2 is sufficiently cooled to solidify as glass pieces. The melted lead 10 is subsequently discharged by a tilting motion of a tilting plate 13. The glass pieces on a mesh, namely the objective fillers 25 are recovered in a melted material-recovering box 16. |
