PURPOSE:To increase the rigidity of the attaching portion of a transmission by connecting adjacent boss portions used for attachment of the transmission provided on the end wall portion of a cylinder block with ribs nearly parallel to each other. CONSTITUTION:On the periphery portion of the end wall portion 78 of a cylinder block 1, on the attaching side of a transmission case, four holes 79 for attaching bolts are arranged and two holes 80 for positioning knock pins are provided on the left and the right side respectively. These holes 79 for bolts and 80 for knock pins are provided coaxially with the corresponding boss portions 94 and 95. In this case, adjacent boss portions 94 and 95 are connected with two ribs 96 parallel to each other respectively. And on the end wall portion 78, radial ribs 81 are provided radially from the periphery of the bearing portion 72 to the periphery of the end wall 78, and ribs 82 are provided so as to cross the radial ribs 81 and to be concentric to the bearing portion 72. |
