The invention relates to a method for aiding navigation for a land or maritime vehicle, and a device implementing this method. The device comprises in particular means 1 for recording, for each leg of a route, the reference values of the heading of this route and the coordinates of the starting point and end point of this leg, means 2, 5, 3 for periodic measurement and recording of the instantaneous values of the headings actually followed and the coordinates of the vehicle when it is moving, and means 3, 6, 7 for periodically calculating the mean values of the headings actually followed, and headings to be followed in order to arrive at the end point, and corresponding minimum distances to be covered in order to reach this end point.
