PURPOSE:To perform the control corresponding to the data peculiar to a printer by host machinery by providing an active or passive electric circuit for informing the data peculiar to the printer to the host machinery. CONSTITUTION:When host machinery (b) receives the information of the number of dots of a printing head 1, the level of a serial input data line 6 is set to 0 at first and the timing pulse of the max. number of dots of a printer capable of being mounted is outputted to a clock input line 7. Next, the level of the serial data input line 6 is set to 1 and the value of a variable C is set to 0. Herein, a timing pulse is emitted one at a time and the voltage value of printer peculiar data output 9 is read. When the voltage value of the printer peculiar data output is a zero level, the value of the variable C is increased by 1 and operation is repeated. The value of the variable C, when the value of the printer inherent data output becomes larger than 0, becomes the number of dots of the printing head 1. |
