PURPOSE:To perform the regeneration completely by stopping ventilation to a filter when pressure losses of the filter exceeds predetermined value and causing water to flow in a direction opposite to that of exhaust gases to wash the filter. CONSTITUTION:When the pressure at a pressure detector 11 at the inlet of a filter has become such a state that said pressure can not be restored to predetermined value, regeneration treatment by the use of water is carried out. The regeneration treatment is conducted while exhaust gases of Diesel engine are passing through a by-pass exhaust gas pipe 23. When the pressure at the pressure detector 11 at the filter inlet, after burning regeneration of a filter 3, is not restored to a predetermined set value, the filter 3 is washed and regenerated for a period during which succeeding exhaust gases are passing through a by- pass exhaust pipe 23 of the filter. At the start of washing of the filter 3, a steam valve 34 for cooling and a return pipe open-close valve 35 are opened to control the steam rate. In this manner, ashes also can be removed. |
