PURPOSE:To markedly prolong service life of a pattern forming roll by forming fine patterns on the surface of a roll by applying a photosensitive resin to the surface of the rolling roll and performing etching or plating to form fine patterns on the roll surface. CONSTITUTION:Fine patterns forming on the surface of a roll are drawn on a master drawing 1 and the drawing 1 is picked up on a negative plate 2. The negative plate 2 is put on a photosensitive resin 4 applied to the total surface of a roll 3, is printed by an exposing device 5, and is dried after developing and water washing. The parts of the roll surface on which the resin 4 is not applied is removed to form recessed parts by etching or a plated layer 6 is formed to form embossed parts on the roll surface parts for which the resin 4 is not applied. Uniform fine rugged patterns 3, 6 are formed by removing the resin film on the roll surface by use of an alkaline aqueous solution. Hence, markedly service life elongating effect is obtained compared with a work roll dull worked by shot blast or electric discharging method. |
