PURPOSE:To obtain the title copolymer useful for discs for information record ing, etc., having low coefficient of photoelasticity, double refraction and water absorption ratio and improved reproducing characteristics of optical recording and durability by subjecting plural specific bisphenols to carbonate bonding. CONSTITUTION:Two or more kinds of bisphenols such as a compound [e.g., 2,2-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane] shown by formula I (R1 and R2 are H, 1-8C alkyl or phenyl), a compound [e.g., 2,2-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methylphenyl)propane shown by formula II (Me is methyl; R3 is as shown for R1) and a compound [e.g., 1,1'-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-p-diisopropylbenzene] shown by formula III (R4 is as shown for R1) are reacted with diphenyl carbonate-under heating and subjected to carbonate bonding to give the aimed copolymer. |
