PURPOSE:To compensate the changes in the sensitivity and surface potential of a photoreceptor surface owing to temp. changes by changing exposure, electrostatic charge quantity, and developing bias in accordance with the temps. of the photosensitive drum surface. CONSTITUTION:A drum 1 is maintained at a constant temp. by controlling a heater 17 with a temp. controlling circuit consisting of a thermostat 19, an atmospheric temp. detecting sensor 18, etc. However, it takes time until the drum surface 1A attains a constant temp. During this time, the temp. of the surface 1A is detected with a temp. detector 31, and in accordance with the value thereof, the electric current flowing in an electrostatic charger 9 is maintained at a prescribed value by an electrostatic charging control circuit 32, whereby the drum surface is controlled to the electrostatic charge quantity corresponding to temps. |
