A method for the preparation of precast elements for use in the production of contact lenses by mechanical working, comprising the steps of polymerizing a monomer mixture in the presence of radical initiators to prepare a precast element, then subjecting the precast element in a swollen state to extraction with a swelling agent, and then perfectly dried it.
