PURPOSE:To obtain a superior image forming material which can be developed with water in a short time by forming a colored mask layer and a layer of a photosensitive composition consisting of an ethylenic unsatd. compound, a photopolymn, initiator, and water insoluble dispersed particles which are not dissolved in both compounds on a support. CONSTITUTION:An image forming material is obtd. by forming a layer of a composition consisting of latex particles which are insoluble in water and dispersible in an org. solvent, an ethylenic unsatd. compound such as the ester of (meth)acrylic acid with polyol, and a photopolymn. initiator on an Al plate or a plastic substrate after forming a colored mask layer contg. a water-softenable high-molecular compound such as hydroxypropylmethylcellulose phthalate and a coloring agent such as carbon black. Said latex is made of a copolymer of a monomer having a polar group represented by one of the formulae (where R is H, alkyl or a carbon ring) with acrylic ester, styrene or the like. The image forming material is imagewise exposed, immersed in water, and developed by slight rubbing, giving an image capable of well reproducing the detail of dots, having high film strength, and almost free from pinholes by short-time development. |
