<p>PURPOSE:To attain moire suppression in a dot photograph without degrading the picture quality of a character and the photograph by selecting the output of each processing part according to power value combination at specific frequencies in each scanning direction of an input picture signal. CONSTITUTION:The main scanning direction component and sub-scanning direction component of the input picture signal are respectively Fourier-transformed, and power values at prescribed frequencies are calculated, 6 and 7. The input picture signal is sent through a moire suppression smoothing part 2, a dither processing part 3, a dither processing part 4, and a binarizing processing part 5 to a selector part 9. The respectively calculated, 6 and 7, power values are compared with respective threshold values in a character/photograph/dot photograph discriminating part 8, the respective pictures are discriminated by the combination of comparison results. By the discriminating output, the selector part 9 selects the outputs of the processing parts 3 to 5 and outputs it.</p> |
