PURPOSE:To manufacture an offensive odor remover whose self-reproduction is possible, whose service life is long and whose adsorptivity is high by fixing a microorganism having capacity for decomposing an offensive component to a carbon porous body. CONSTITUTION:A carbon porous body 2 is pelletized by using skeleton carbon 2A sized by sieving a pulverized matter of coal, coke, etc., as a raw material and adding a binder pitch 2B thereto. This pelletized matter is carbonized by heating at 1 to 10 deg.C/min temperature rise speed under a reducing atmosphere and holding it for 1 to 5 hours at 500 to 900 deg.C, activated under a flow of water vapor at 600 to 900 deg.C, by which a porous body is manufactured. This carbon porous body 2 is immersed into a culture solution containing a microorganism having capacity for decomposing an offensive odor component for 1-5 hours and the microorganism is allowed to adhere to the carbon porous body. This offensive odor remover adsorbs an offensive odor, and also, decomposes and desorbs the adsorbed offensive odor by the adhered microorganism and can be used as a processing agent which can readsorb an offensive odor, has a long service life and has a high offensive odor removing capacity. |
