Paper finishing section moves the paper web from a paper machine to a roll-up station and the rolls when full, to a roll-off section ahead of e.g. a supercalender. The empty drums are returned to the former station. Transporting and rail systems operate a circuit for the full and empty drums controlled by an automatic system. The web (Wo) is wound up on the drum (T3) in the wind-up station (RK1) (K1) the full drums (R1) roll on rails (22) to the roll-off station (RA1). The empty drums (T) are returned to the wind-up station on rails (28). The control system (90) produces the pulses (P1-PN) for all transport devices the execution is confirmed by feedback signals (f1, fK) from sensors. The web (W1) is passed from the roll (R3) to a supercalender (30) with an auxiliary crane (35). A vertical transport mechanism (70) takes it from the cellar level (200) to the machine level (100).
