Vertical conveyor for piece goods having endlessly circulating inner and outer chains and having platforms which are transversely stable in the vertical strand in their working position and to which the piece goods are fed, in the receiving region, from a first conveyor and which delivers the piece goods, in the delivery region, to a second conveyor. Located between the inner chains are safety rods which close the gaps between adjacent platforms. By this means, piece goods in the receiving or delivery region are prevented from falling into the conveyor.
