An engraving device having double return mechanism of penholder supporter having a structure that a pressure rod (3) and a penholder supporter (11B) are interlocked with each other and a return rod (13) and the pressure (3) rod are moved upward to raise the penholder supporter (11B). A pressure rod (3) is connected to an air cylinder (8B) at the upper portion thereof and has a lifting member (15) at the lower end thereof for lifting the penholder supporter (11B). The arrangement includes pressure rod (3) provided with a lifting member (15) connected to a tip end thereof, and a second three port direct acting valve (12C) for lifting the penholder supporter (11B) immediately after the completion of the engraving operation. <IMAGE>
