摘要

A monoclonal antibody which is specifically reactive with HIV-constitutive protein gp41 and which is not reactive with gp160, gp120, gp65, gp55, p32, p24 or p18 is disclosed. The monoclonal antibody is produced by a hybridoma of lymphocytes of a non-human animal and myeloma cells, wherein said animal is immunized with synthetic peptide which comprises an amino acid sequence corresponding to an epitope of membrane protein gp41 of HIV, is not reactive with said virus itself and is reactive with the membrane protein gp41 of said virus. The monoclonal antibody can be utilized as positive standard for Western blotting method, EIA, etc. Also, it can be effectively used for detection of destroyed virus and exposed gp41 and analysis of their conditions, because it is not reactive with HIV itself.
