PURPOSE:To obtain an electric double layer capacitor which is electrically and mechanically stable and whose overall thickness is thin by a method wherein case bodies of one pair of unit cells are faced and a metal ring is arranged around them and is united by a laser welding operation or the like. CONSTITUTION:In a unit cell 11 on one side, the side of its cap 11a is a positive pole and the side of a case body 11b is a negative pole. Although a unit cell 12 on the other side is of the same shape as the unit cell 11, the side of its cap 12a is a negative pole and the side of a case body 12b used as a laminating face is a positive pole. The unit cells 11, 12 whose polarity is opposite are used; the case bodies 11b, 12b whose diameter and shape are identical are faced laminated; a metal ring 13 is arranged around the case bodies; the metal ring 13 and the case bodies 11b, 12b are welded by, e.g., a laser welding operation, a resistance welding operation, an ultrasonic welding operation or the like; thereby, this capacitor is constituted; Thereby, it is possible to obtain a bonded state whose reliability is electrically and mechanically high and to make an overall thickness thin. |
