PURPOSE:To reduce the capacity of a high frequency insulation transformer and to improve its operating efficiency by providing a high frequency phase advancing capacitor at each common input side terminal of each separately- excited converter for forming a cycloconverter, and a high frequency transformer for insulating the capacitor. CONSTITUTION:Input side terminals are connected to separately-excited converters (AC/DC power converters) SS1-SS6 for forming first and second cycloconverters CC1, CC2. A plurality of sets of high frequency phase advancing capacitors CAP1-CAP3 are connected by dividing into the common input side terminals, and insulated to provide a high frequency transformer TR to be electrically coupled. Thus, the capacity of the transformer TR is reduced to improve the operating efficiency of the converter and particularly that at the time of a light load. |
