A covering layer which is applied to a printed circuit board and can be activated photochemically is washed off by means of a solvent. After this, until now, the printed circuit board has been sprayed with water in order to remove solvent residues. At the same time, a portion of the solvent, which is hazardous to the environment, was dissolved in the water. According to the invention, the solvent is now blown completely off the printed circuit board by means of a directed air flow, the contamination of the water being avoided.
