Connecting elements 1, 1a are welded onto beams 2 of a lattice structure to be joined, e.g. the lattice structure of an offshore drilling rig, which elements have a flange section 3 having slotted holes 7 therein. The longitudinal axes of the slotted holes 7 of one 1 of the connecting elements in each case, extended at an angle to the longitudinal axes of facing slotted holes 7 of the other connecting element 1a. A passage for the bolt connection 6 is consequently guaranteed when the two connecting elements 1, 1a are eccentric with respect to each other.
