Prepns. (I) are based on a polymeric cpd. with sulphide gp(s). (II), contg. an aromatic hydroxycarboxylic acid (III). (I) are produced by incorporating (III) into the liq. polymer before adding solid components. Crosslinkable materials a heating (IV) are claimed, contg. a prepn. (I) and an organic and/or inorganic oxidising agent. (I) contain 0.1-10 (pref. 0.5-5) pts. wt. (III) w.r.t. 100 pts. wt. liq. (II); (III) is a hdyroxybenzoic acid; (II) has polysulphide gps.; (I) also contains plasticisers, active and inactive fillers, pigments and other known additives; (III) is added as a mixt. with a plasticiser. USE/ADVANTAGE - (IV) are useful as sealants, adhesives, coating materials or jointing materials in the construction industry. (III) acts as an autoxidn. retarder, improving the storage stability of (IV) without adversely affecting the setting time after adding the oxidising agent.
