The invention relates to a portable battery housing (1) for accommodating batteries and accumulators by means of which lights are supplied in the field of photography, filming and television. In order to ensure good carrying convenience and at the same time so that the mobility of the carrier is not limited, it is proposed according to the invention to provide the battery housing (1), on the upper edge, with a shoulder strap (9) as a carrying strap and on the inner wall (2), facing a carrier, with loops (6) for position fixing. In addition, at least that inner wall (2) of the housing which faces the carrier is curved and runs essentially along a cylindrical surface. All the connections (10, 11) and indications as well as instruments (12) are provided on a cover (5) on the top of the battery housing (1), by means of which connections etc. it is possible on the one hand to produce a connection to the light which is used as well as to a ballast (21) and/or a charger, these apparatuses simply being placed on the top of the battery housing (1) and engaging by means of suitable plug connections (23, 24) in the connections (10, 11) on the top of the battery housing (1). <IMAGE>
