Process for producing a band which can recover its shape under heat

A description is given of a process for producing a band which can recover its shape under heat from plastic with a woven fabric increasing the tearing strength of the band at shrinkage temperature. In this case, a woven fabric is produced from crossing threads of a non-stretchable or only slightly stretchable material, at least the threads running in one direction (shrinking or stretching direction) being shaped in the manner of a helix. This fabric is embedded in a polymer matrix and is stretched in the direction of the helically running threads. The helically running threads are advantageously wound up on a strand of plastic.
