The WC cistern (11) has an outlet pipe (17) aligned with an internal valve housing (34) which has a seat (33) for a valve plate (31). The WC can be flushed by actuating lever which lifts the valve plate (31) off the seat (33). Water then flows out until the level in the cistern falls so that a float (36) presses the valve plate (31) back onto its seat (33). The cistern has a second valve seat formed on the upper end of a curved pipe which is connected to the outlet (17). When this . is open the flow is shut off at a higher internal level so that less water is used for flushing WC. USE/ADVANTAGE - The amount of - during flushing can be reduced to the min. necessary.
