<p>Thiophenones are produced by acylating the aromatic ring of thiophenolic ethers in the presence of anhydrous hydrofluoric acid. It has been found that if the thio group is in the form of a thioether and not a thiol, the aromatic ring can be acylated to form the thiophenone in the presence of anhydrous hydrofluoric acid.</p> |
