PURPOSE:To allow high-density recording with good controllability by providing a hygroscopic substrate which has moisture in the inside or on the surface and a amphiphilic dye molecular layer which is deposited on this substrate or embedded therein and has an photoflocculating characteristics. CONSTITUTION:The amphiphilic dye molecular formed on the hygroscopic substrate 1 contg. the moisture on the surface or in the inside. For example, a membrane filter made of polycarbonate is used as the substrate 1 and 4'-n- octylazobenzene-4-oxybutylic acid is used as the amphiphilic dye. The light absorption characteristic is changed by the effect of photoflocculation and a significant increase in absorption strength is admitted in the region irradiated with light. Binary digital information recording is, therefore, executed by determining the point where the light absorption intensity is increased by the irradiation of the light beam as '1' and the section which is not subjected to the irradiation of light as '0'. The stable optical recording with the high density is executed by utilizing the properties of the photoflocculation of the org. dye in this way. |
