The use of filters for the removal of odorous and harmful substances from the air requires frequent changing of the filters if an effective cleaning effect is to be accomplished. This is not in keeping with the requirements for cost-effective continuous operation. Air conditioning can be carried out with high efficiency in a cost-effective continuous operation by oxidising the anodically convertible substances of the air in an electrochemical cell.
