A damping device (A) for a tower-like structure (4), including a liquid column tube (1) having an arbitrary shape and a pair of opposite rising end portions (2) thereof where liquid levels (2a) are formed, and an orifice (3) provided at an intermediate portion in the liquid column tube (1), the liquid column tube (1) being mounted to the tower-like structure (4). The damping property of the damping device can be quantitatively defined by employing the orifice (3). Further, as the intermediate portion of the liquid column tube (1) between the opposite rising end portions can be appropriately configured, an installation space for the damping device (A) is freely designed.
