PURPOSE:To obtain hollow polymer particles, consisting of at least two polymer layers, having holes in the interior thereof, excellent in hiding power, gloss, film strength, adhesion, etc., and suitable as coating materials for paper, fiber, etc., and various coatings, etc. CONSTITUTION:Hollow polymer particles having at least two polymer layers of an inner layer consisting of a crosslinked polymer consisting of polymerization units expressed by formula I (R<1> is H or methyl; X is n-functional organic group, etc.; n is 2 or 3), formula II (R<2> is H or methyl; Y is phenyl, etc.), formula III (R<3> and R<5> are H or methyl; R<4> is H, carboxyl, etc.; R<6> is H, 1-18C alkyl, etc.) and, as necessary, polymerization units expressed by formula IV (R<7> is H or methyl) and an outer layer consisting of an uncrosslinked polymer consisting of one or more polymerization units selected from formulas II, III and IV, 0.15-20mum average particle diameter, 0.2-0.8 average ratio of the equivalent hollow diameter to the equivalent diameter, 20-90wt.% content of portions insoluble in toluene and 0.1-1g/10min melt flow rate. |
