摘要 PURPOSE:To enhance a recording sensitivity and to obtain a high-quality recording image in any density range from low to high by a method wherein a coating liquid being mainly composed of a pigment and a binder and containing a specific ratio of cation resin is applied between a substrate and a recording layer by blade coating. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal recording material providing a thermal recording layer on a substrate, an intermediate layer formed by the blade coating of a coating liquid being mainly composed of a pigment and a binder and containing 0.01-1.0wt.% cation resin relatively to the pigment is provided be tween the substrate and the recording layer. As the cation resin, for example, a polyethylene resin and a cation polyamine resin are preferably used because of their particularly superior effects of improving a recording sensitivity and an image quality. The addition amount of the cation resin is required to be in the range of 0.01-1.0wt.% to the pigment. As the pigment to be contained in the intermediate layer, kaolin, clay, calcium carbonate, aluminum hydroxide, calcined clay, amorphous silica, and others are exemplified. As the binder, for example, an emulsion of water-soluble polymers or various types of synthetic resins can be used.
