Procedure for producing the end surfaces of probe lenses

The present procedure consists in the forming of the end surfaces of probe lenses for their application in endoscopes and the like. Firstly, the raw probe lens is bonded to the surface expanding mould, this assembly next being placed on the centring machine and then heated and when the material softens the body of the mould moves towards the centring machine. The end face 11 is extracted and externally pressurised. The principal axis is rotated while examining the condition of the image of the filament reflected on the surface until the polished surface of the expansion mould and the probe lens share the same axis. Using this procedure, coincidence between the geometrical and optical axes of the said lenses is easily achieved. <IMAGE>
