The gathering device incorporates a head 1 with a transverse cylindrical sweeping brush 5 which, upon advance, rotating over the ground, picks up the olives and, on undergoing the scraping effect of the blade 8, deposits them on a conveyor belt 11 which in turn displaces them towards a screening/winnowing unit 15 for cleaning them. This unit discharges onto an endless conveyor 20 which raises the olives towards a subsequent gathering hopper 22 where they are stored until the hopper is full, said hopper 22 incorporating an endless conveyor (auger) 27 for emptying them out into a transportation vehicle. The previous head 1 is coupled at the front to the tractor and rests on wheels 3 whilst the subsequent hopper 22 is fixed to the rear three-point system of the tractor and has a support 23 on which is also mounted a hydraulic unit for actuating the motors which move all the movable elements of the machine. <IMAGE>
